This week, Reflection spaces were set up in school for year 5 and 6 children to explore. Here are some of the questions the children reflected upon and tasks that they were given.
Blob Tree – In front of you is a picture called a blob tree. Each person on the tree represents a way we can feel. Take a moment and think about how you feel about your move to secondary school. Make a blob person out of the play dough in front of you to represent this feeling.
Who’s in the Mirror – You are amazing and unique with skills, talents and characteristics that only you have. There is no one in the world the same as you. Take one of the pens and write on the mirror something special about you. It could be a special skill you have or a talent. It could be a characteristic like you’re kind or funny...
Thankful Chain – Over the last few years there are so many people who have given their time and effort to help you become the person you are today. There are also different times and places that have helped you grow. Write something on the paper and fold it round so that the writing is on the inside. Add it to the paperchain. You can repeat the process with different things you’re thankful for.
Wonderfully Made – Take a scratch sqaure in front of you and decorate it to reflect who you are. Make sure to put your name in the middle.
Big Question – Everyone has a big question about life. What are your big questions? Whether you believe in God or not, if you could ask God one question right now, what would you ask?
We’re really thankful to Josh Vallance, Youth Worker at St Mark’s Church and at The Rock who set these spaces up for the children. The activities were extremely well received by both children and adults. A special moment to pause and think deeper - a real highlight of the week.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
