We’ve had an actioned packed week celebrating the love of reading during our joint Festival of Literature with Benhall.
On World Book day itself, children visited Benhall (and we also welcomed Benhall Children) for a shared activity on the book Flotsam. They also took time out to cosy up with a good book and hot chocolate, which of course was enjoyed by all.
The Book Fair and Book Pledge has been a huge success and thank you to everyone who came along to the Fair and/or picked up a book pledge cover! As always your support is invaluable and the children will benefit so much from your generosity. Particular thanks to our wonderful House Captains who gave up their time before and after school to make the Book Pledge happen.
Also a huge thank you to everyone who pre-ordered Jodie Garnish and P.G. Bell books for the visiting authors to sign this week. From the commission raised we were given these books for free!!!
The books will be distributed to the classrooms for the children to enjoy.
Author Visits
The children were visited by 2 authors this week. On Tuesday Jodie Garnish author of The Spectaculars visited year 3 and 4. She talked to the children about how she became an author and how to create stories, make characters and scenes. They started to develop a story together in the session and if any children wants to finish the story at home she said that she would happily read them!
Today the year 5 and 6 participated in a workshop with the author P.G. Bell. The children learnt how to use the ‘magic ingredients’ to create their own exciting stories. We look forward to reading some of the outcomes in the near future.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
