Big Garden Birdwatch

Big Garden Birdwatch

Led by the School Council and Eco Team, the children delivered a fantastic presentation encouraging everyone to take part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch.

The Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest garden wildlife survey, bringing together hundreds of thousands of nature lovers each year to help build a picture of how garden birds are faring. Taking part was simple: spend one hour counting the birds you see in your garden, local park or another outdoor space during the weekend in January.

Big School's Birdwatch

As a school, we also took part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch, with the children surveying our school grounds to identify and count the different bird species they spotted.

To encourage more birds into our school grounds and help local wildlife thrive, the School Council and Eco team sold bags of bird seed. The money raised was used to purchase bird feeders and bird boxes for our school, helping us to create an even more welcoming habitat for birds.

This was a fantastic project that gave the children the opportunity to make a real difference to our local environment while learning about the importance of protecting and supporting wildlife. Well done to our School Council and Eco Team for helping our feathered friends thrive!
