About Us

Welcome to St Mark’s Church of England Junior School.

We are a thriving, forward‑thinking school rooted in strong Christian values, where every child is nurtured to grow in confidence, character and academic achievement. I am delighted that you are considering St Mark’s for the next chapter of your child’s education.

At St Mark’s, our vision—“Growing together, becoming all we are created to be”—underpins everything we do. Our school logo, the willow tree planted when St Mark’s was first built, beautifully symbolises who we are: a community of learners growing together through every season of life. We celebrate each child’s unique gifts and personalities, supporting them to aim high, flourish and contribute positively to the world around them.

We are proud to be recognised as a high‑performing Church of England school. St Mark’s was graded Good by Ofsted (March 2023) and achieved the highest possible judgement of Excellent in all areas by SIAMS (November 2022). These outcomes reflect our unwavering commitment to both personal development and academic excellence—two areas we firmly believe go hand in hand. Please do read the full reports here.

Our FACE ValuesForgiveness, Aspire, Compassion and Engage—are the heartbeat of St Mark’s. They guide our daily life together:

  • Forgiveness in how we treat and respond to one another and ourselves: 'Be a peacemaker, don’t rub it in, rub it out'
  • Aspiration in our learning and the goals we set: ‘Keep growing, dig deep, aim high’
  • Compassion for others in our school, local community and the wider world: ‘Be kind, notice the need’
  • Engagement with every opportunity to grow, contribute and achieve our best: ‘Be here now, play your part’

Through all aspects of school life, we aim to help children develop a deep sense of self-worth, a secure understanding of who they are and who they hope to become, and a strong moral compass to guide their choices. We want every child to build positive relationships, recognise their ability to make a difference, and step forward with confidence and hope.

We are incredibly proud of our school and warmly welcome you to find out more about the St Mark’s family. I look forward to working together to help your child become all they are created to be.
