Class 1: Class 1 enjoyed an immersive library experience this week. They brought in their favourite book from home along with a cushion or beanbag to create a cosy reading space. They loved sharing their stories and talking about what they enjoyed most about their books with their classmates and were also treated to a hot chocolate!
Class 2: In Geography, the children learnt about different types of settlements and placed them in chronological order on a timeline.
Class 3 & 4: The Year 4 team transformed the Hall into an immersive Roman marketplace this week. The items on sale included fabric, bread, spices, fruit, armour and luxury items. The children got the opportunity to barter and haggle for their purchases, which was a common practice in Roman times. Class 4 would also like to add that they thoroughly enjoyed their first Hockey lesson of the year and are looking forward to developing their skills.
Class 5: In English, Class 6 printed wonderful pieces of artwork using oranges. This activity was inspired by the new class reading book, Oranges in No Man’s Land by Elizabeth Laird.
Class 6: Class 6 also enjoyed starting Oranges in No Man’s Land and applying ideas from the text in their own writing.
Class 7: Year 6 have started looking at the work of street artist Banksy. They studied photographs of some of his work and wrote sentences using the subordinating conjunction ‘because’ to explain what they liked about it.
Class 8: In English, the children watched a short animation called DreamGiver. Inspired by the animation, the children wrote their own versions of story, imagining that they gave a child a dream which then goes wrong.
