On Thursday our year 6 children visited the GWR Railway Museum in Winchcombe, as part of their topic on World War 2 and Britain since the 1930s. The trip was a unique opportunity for the children to experience a World War 2 evacuation, step back in time to the 1940s and have a glimpse of wartime life.
The trip was action pact and included an air raid experience, firefighting practice and they even went on a steam train journey to re-enact what it would have been like to travel to the ‘safety of the countryside’. The Museum Education staff also gave a presentation showing a wide range of wartime items.
We had such a fantastic day and the children really immersed themselves in all the activities as well as lots of children coming dressed as evacuees. Well done to everyone for making this trip a real success.
