The whole school took part in an Internet Safety Day today. We had a visit from P.C Peters and our community PCSO, who came to talk to the children about staying safe online and highlighting the dangers of sharing personal information with strangers. The teachers and teaching assistants have also had to complete an E-safety training course to ensure that they can be effective in supporting the children.
To support parents with the ever increasing complexities of the internet, you are able to complete a short online training programme which provides some useful advice. Any certificates that are returned to school will be put into a prize draw for a Dine in Meal, one for Y3/Y4 and one for Y5/Y6.
There are also some further links that may be of interest.
Following a pupil questionnaire, we are still aware that there are some pupils who are communication online with people they have not met and as a result, they are putting themselves at risk. YouTube is another popular website where they are able to access a wide range of materials, some of which may be inappropriate. If your child does have an account, please ensure that the privacy settings are configured appropriately. There are some links available on the news page which is located on our school website homepage with further advice.
We will also be providing a link for parents to complete a short online training package. For any parents that return their completion certificate to school, we will put your name in a hat for a prize draw to win one of two M&S dine in vouchers. The draw will take place in our Celebration Collective Worship on Friday 8th February.
