We had a good research of things we would like to make out of waste that would otherwise end up in landfill or recycling.
The children then collected what they needed from their own house waste and had a go at making all sorts! We had:
Tea light holders
Pencil cases
Watering cans
Photo frames
Decorations
and even a Poo bag dispenser for the local park!
Well done all :)
Well done to Eco Club for their excellent, clear delivery of today's assembly. They shared lots of really interesting information with the rest of the school about the launch of our new recycling scheme. We will be collecting crisp packets, biscuit wrappers, muesli bar wrappers and some other things to send to Terracycle. This company recycles hard to recycle plastics and uses the materials to make things out of really durable plastics. As if turning our waste into useful items isn't cool enough, they also donate money to Kicks Count charity for every bit of waste we collect!
We will keep you updated on how it kicks off at school - we hope to be able to start collecting waste from home too, if possible. In the mean time, if you're interested, look up
KC Recycling in Gloucester and Cheltenham on Facebook!
Once again, well done Eco Club for your assembly today.
